Dr. Chi-Chieh Lee is a research scientist in the Marlin Lab. Originally from Taiwan, Chi completed her undergraduate and master’s degrees at National Yang-Ming University, where she studied a mitochondrial transmembrane protein associated with longevity. Her passion for research led her to Academia Sinica, where she investigated the role of exon-junction complex subunits in brain development, marking her entry into the field of neuroscience.

To further explore her curiosity about neuroscience, Chi was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship to pursue her PhD at Technische Universität Dresden. Her research focused on hippocampal neurogenesis and Alzheimer’s disease (AD), where she successfully increased endogenous neural stem cells (NSCs) in the AD mouse hippocampus, partially reversing AD-related deficits.

After completing her PhD, Chi held a short-term postdoctoral position in Taiwan, studying how transcription mediator complex subunits regulate neuronal differentiation by culturing NSCs.

Outside the lab, Chi enjoys rock climbing and baking. She also likes playing board games and having afternoon tea with friends. On her to-do list are improving her snowboarding skills and writing articles to promote public science awareness.
